France cuts 2026 growth forecast to 0.4%, now lagging its neighbours

France's statistics office Insee cut its 2026 growth forecast to 0.4%, down from 0.7%. Weak consumer spending, falling investment and rising inflation are the drivers. The eurozone's second-largest economy now trails Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK, all of which kept growing through the first half of the year.
