OpenAI's 10,000-agent swarm claims a Navier-Stokes proof, and a credit fight erupts
OpenAI says an internal AI system running about 10,000 agents produced a proposed solution to Navier-Stokes, a fluid-motion puzzle unsolved for over a century that carries a $1 million prize, in 88 hours. NYU professor Tristan Buckmaster and Anthropic's Levent Alpöge say their unpublished work shaped it and were left off the credit. OpenAI denies its people or agents saw the pair's specific research, but admits it can't rule out de-identified data from product use. No outside mathematician has checked the proof yet.
