OpenAI's failed $100M Hugging Face bid put it against NVIDIA

Before NVIDIA (NVDA) bought open-source platform Hugging Face for about $13 billion, OpenAI tried to invest $100 million to route its own custom chips through it. The talks collapsed, and NVIDIA won the asset. OpenAI buys heavily from NVIDIA, so a customer building rival chips now competes with its supplier. NVDA is a Pelosi holding.
