TotalEnergies dares France: cheap fuel now, gone if the windfall tax lands

TotalEnergies (TTE) is holding pump prices at 1.99 euros a litre in France, well below the roughly 2.15-euro national average, a voluntary move that has already cost the oil giant hundreds of millions of euros. Independent rivals, unable to match it, filed a competition complaint. CEO Patrick Pouyanne says the cap ends the day France passes a windfall tax on his profits.
