DVY is the iShares Select Dividend ETF. An ETF is a basket of stocks you can buy in one trade, like a single share. This one holds about 100 US companies that have paid steady dividends (regular cash payments to shareholders) for years, with heavy weight in utilities, banks, and consumer staples. The fund earns its keep by passing those dividends on to investors and charging a small annual fee.
