Isaias becomes a hurricane and now keeps most Gulf oil offline near Chevron's plant
Isaias has grown into the first Atlantic hurricane of 2026, and about 63% of Gulf of Mexico oil output is now shut in, up sharply from a quarter earlier this week. Chevron (CVX) has halted several platforms and pulled most offshore crews. Landfall is forecast near the Mississippi-Alabama-Florida line late Friday, October 9, close to its large Pascagoula refinery.
